“Them Thar Hills” (ink pen on watercolor paper), 6″ x 12″
Not sure where I’m headed on this one. Most likely I’ll add arbitrary watercolor washes.

“Rooted in Love” (watercolor on paper; 5-1/2″ x 5-1/2″)
This was a fun little piece to create. Lots of pushing and pulling of darks and lights throughout the roots. It’s amazing how much time goes into such a small piece, with lots of decisions to make. I rarely start with a penciled in concept, so the movement of the watercolor brush throughout the drawing is intuitive and responsive to what appears.
“War Horse” (watercolor on paper; 6″ x 6″)
“Eye See, I Say” (ink and watercolor on paper; 5-1/2″ x 5-1/2″)
Doodling…adding watercolor…odd bird-like creature, maybe.
“Hearts & Flowers & Horses” (watercolor on Yupo paper; 10″ x 13″)
Yupo is a very slick-surfaced paper, and you either love it or hate it. I enjoy working on it, but it can be frustrating. Apply a brushstroke, then again, and it changes completely. It never seems to stay put…but that’s the surprise I like.
“Horsewoman” (watercolor on Rives BFK, prepared with gesso; 6″ x 6″)
Another non-objective started with images appearing.
“Through the Void” (watercolor on paper, 5’1/2″ x 5-1/2″)
This little abstract was created in a small sketchbook. I closed the book before the piece was dry, and when I opened it later, it stuck to the other page. The sticking created a few little tears, but I liked the resulting texture.
